Elderly Woman Dies in Evening Crash on Highway 178 in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 9, 2019) – An elderly woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday evening.
The crash happened on August 9 around 7:38 p.m. eastbound Highway 178 west of Democrat Road.
Officials said the woman was driving her car eastbound when she was hit by another vehicle.
Paramedics arrived and transported her to Kern Medical where she died with blunt force injuries. The Kern County coroner identified her as 88-year-old Margaret Elizabeth Smith.
Further investigation of this crash is underway.
