2 Injured in Burney Car Accident on Highway 299
BURNEY, CA (August 14, 2019) – Two drivers sustained injuries in a car accident on Highway 299 on August 3.
The alleged DUI car collision occurred on Highway 299 east and Tamarack Avenue. One of the vehicles reportedly caught fire. CHP, Burney Mountain Station sheriff’s deputies, and other emergency personnel all responded to the scene of the collision shortly after 4:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, 911 callers said that both vehicles went off the road. However, some parts and debris blocked the lanes along the two-lane mountain roadway.
The two drivers both sustained injuries. However, a dog didn’t suffer any injury at the scene.
Upon the officials’ arrival, they located two heavily damaged vehicles, a maroon Dodge Durango SUV and a second maroon car. In addition, firefighters put off the flames in the Dodge.
An air ambulance transported one of the victims from the scene.
Marcus Hilton, one of the injured, went to Mayers Memorial Hospital in Fall River Mills. However, a helicopter flew the other victim to Mercy Medical Center in Redding.
There is a possibility that alcohol intoxication played a role.
The crash remains under investigation.
