68-Year-Old Nipomo Man Dead in Santa Maria Accident on Highway 101 and Main Street

 
SANTA MARIA, CA (May 10, 2022) – Monday morning, a deadly two-vehicle crash on Highway 101 and Main Street involved Marcos Salazar.
 
The incident occurred at around 9:45 a.m. on Highway 101 and Main Street. Moreover, the Santa Maria Fire Department, the California Highway Patrol, the U.S. Forest Service, and American Medical Response came to the scene.
 
According to reports, the crash involved two northbound vehicles, a Honda CRV and a Nissan 350Z. Reports said that it happened when one driver tried to change lanes.
 
Then, the crash caused the Honda to overturn several times, and went into the center median. Then, it landed on the southbound side of the highway.
 
Responders took the 68-year-old male Honda driver from Nipomo to Marian Regional Medical Center. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
 
Meanwhile, 20-year-old Marcos Salazar of Santa Maria drove the second vehicle.
 
Moreover, the crash stalled traffic on Highway 101 for more than an hour.
 
Officers from the CHP’s Santa Maria area handle the investigation of the circumstances that have led up to the crash.
 
At this time, the identity of the deceased remains undisclosed due to pending family notification.
