1 Killed and 2 Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision near Highway 84
HALF MOON BAY, CA (August 14, 2018) – A woman has died days after she was severely injured in a head-on crash near Highway 84. The victim was later identified as 63-year-old Marcia Baum of San Francisco.
As per reports, the incident took place on Tuesday, August 14th, shortly before 6:00 PM. Baum was returning from an afternoon shift at Año Nuevo State Park when a vehicle collided head-on with her BMW.
Baum sustained severe injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment and evaluation. On August 18th, park officials announced the unfortunate news of Baum’s passing.
Meanwhile, the 18-year-old Hayward man driving the other vehicle sustained minor injuries. His 17-year-old female passenger suffered major injuries in the collision. There is no update on their current medical conditions at this time.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the 18-year-old’s vehicle attempted to pass a truck in the two-lane stretch before slamming into Baum’s BMW. Investigators are working on identifying possible contributing factors, and no additional information has been disclosed.
