Marcelo Santos Fatally Struck on Highway 1 [Oxnard, CA]

Oxnard, CA (April 30, 2022) – On Friday morning, Marcelo Santos, 34, of Gardena, died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 1.

Officers received the crash report at around 7 a.m. near Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu.

Santos was standing next to a parked 2000 Ford Explorer SUV on the right northbound shoulder. Also, a 51-year-old Inglewood man was a passenger in the Ford.

Suddenly, a Port Hueneme man, 33, was northbound on the highway in a 2018 Volkswagen Atlas SUV. That man veered toward the shoulder, struck Santos and the Explorer.

Unfortunately, Santos died at the scene.

On the other hand, the Ford passenger and the Volkswagen driver were not injured in the accident.

The authorities are investigating if drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision. No arrests were reported.
