Police Arrest Fidencio Lopez-Daniel and Marcelo Munoz Sixto in Monterey DUI Crash
Monterey, CA (June 08, 2021) – On Sunday, 18-year-old Marcelo Munoz Sixto of Salinas, and his passenger, 21-year-old Fidencio Lopez-Daniel of Santa Rita, were arrested in DUI hit-and-run crash on Del Monte Boulevard.
The accident took place minutes after 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of El Camino Estero.
Officers responded to a report of a three-vehicle crash with injuries wherein Sixto was identified as the driver who caused the accident.
Apparently, Sixto and his passenger fled the scene before the authorities arrived.
The police found the located near Cortes Street and Pearl Street in Monterey where they were arrested.
The authorities took them to the hospital and received medical clearance to be booked.
Reports said Sixto was driving his vehicle at three times the blood alcohol limit allowed in California.
Moreover, the authorities recommended Sixto be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08%, hit and run causing injury, driving on a suspended license and on an outstanding warrant from San Luis Obispo County.
They also arrested Lopez-Daniel for public intoxication.
Finally, officers booked Sixto into the Monterey County Jail with a bail set at $35,000, while Lopez-Daniel was booked and released with a citation.
Since you cannot read the intention of the driver in front of you, don’t tailgate. Maintain some distance between your vehicle and the one ahead in order to give yourself enough response time should the vehicle ahead make a sudden turn or stop.
