Early Morning Wrong-Way Collision on Highway 99 in Manteca Kills One
MANTECA, CA (March 28, 2019) – A man was killed following a wrong-way crash early Thursday morning in Manteca, CHP officials said.
The fatal crash happened around 2:32 a.m. on Highway 99 at Lathrop Road off-ramp.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle was traveling northbound on the southbound lanes of the highway when it crashed on the right shoulder.
A male occupant of the vehicle, around 40 to 45 years old, was found unconscious inside the car. Responding paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but the man did not survive and declared dead.
The identity of the victim was not immediately available pending family notification.
It is unknown if intoxication was a factor in the crash. An investigation is still ongoing.
