Tucson, AZ (September 24, 2023) – Early Saturday morning, 59-year-old Manley Gilliland died in a DUI crash on East 22nd Street.

Police subsequently arrested 29-year-old Jonathan Elocadio Cardenas.

The fatal crash happened just after 1 a.m. on September 23.

Tucson Police found Gilliland badly injured after his black 2013 Harley Davidson FLSTFB motorcycle was pushed off the road.

Officers said Gilliland was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, nor did he have a valid driver’s license.

He later died at the hospital.

Investigators determined that 29-year-old Jonathan Elocadio Cardenas was driving behind Gilliland in a silver 2014 Ford Focus at an excessive speed and was impaired.

Cardenas is booked in the Pima County Jail, charged with second-degree murder, and faces a $250,000 bond.

This investigation remains ongoing.
