Two People Hospitalized after Head-On Collision near Lakeport and Ackley Road
LAKEPORT, CA (September 6, 2018) – On Thursday morning, two drivers were seriously injured in an accident on Highway 29 near Lakeport. 43-year-old Mandy Robbins of Upper Lake and 31-year-old Scott Womble of Kelseyville were hospitalized in critical condition following the head-on collision.
According to the California Highway PatrolHP, the collision took place around 7:55 AM, just north of Ackley Road.
Womble was driving north on the highway at about 50 to 55 mph in a 1999 Mazda pickup truck when he attempted to avoid a long line of stopped cars ahead. He veered left into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on with a 2007 GMC Yukon SUV, driven by Robbins. Both drivers sustained serious injuries from the crash and were airlifted to a trauma center outside of the county. There current medical condition is unknown at this time.
It is unclear if drugs and alcohol were contributing factors in this incident. No further details about the incident were immediately released.
