HWY 177 Fatal Collision Under Investigation
Desert Center, CA (October 15, 2023) – A 54-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman lost their lives following a Highway 177 collision Saturday.
The authorities received the crash report just before 1 p.m. near mile marker 13.
A 54-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the scene and another 54-year-old woman was extricated from a vehicle and rushed by air ambulance to a hospital with serious injuries.
CHP officers said the a 24-year-old woman driving a Subaru Forester was southbound on the freeway when she crossed over the broken yellow lines. The vehicle crashed head-on into a Honda Pilot occupied by a 54-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman.
Both vehicles overturned as a result of the collision.
Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in this accident. Officers are still investigating.
