Police Investigate Crash in the Angeles National Forest
Los Angeles, CA (December 14, 2022) – Tuesday afternoon, a man and a woman sustained injuries in a crash in the Angeles National Forest.
Around 1:55 p.m. on Tuesday, Apple emergency services notified deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department of a crash in the forest.
According to officials, who explained the situation in a tweet thread, the two people were in a secluded canyon without a cellular connection.
While their vehicle went 300 feet down the side of a mountain near mile marker 18.87 in the Montrose area.
Reportedly, they were able to communicate with a relay center using the emergency satellite service on their iPhone 14 to request help.
The victims were eventually located. They were lifted out of the canyon by a helicopter and taken to a hospital sustaining moderate injuries.
No other information about the incident is available.
