Pit Bulls Attack Father and Son near West Olive Avenue
PORTERVILLE, CA (August 22, 2018) – A man survived a pit bull attack on Road 223, late Wednesday evening. The victim reportedly protected his child who was with him at the time of the incident. His name and place of residence was not immediately disclosed.
It happened at approximately 10:30 PM near West Olive Avenue and Joe’s Westside Market. According to reports, the father and son were walking when they were attacked by two pit bulls that escaped a nearby yard. The child was not harmed, but the man was pounced by the dogs and bitten multiple times.
The medics reported that the man suffered multiple dog bites and was rushed to the Sierra View Medical Center in Porterville. He is currently recovering and is expected to survive the incident.
Officers found the two pit bulls were in the middle of the road. One of the officers was forced to discharge his firearm due to the dogs’ aggressive behavior, killing the animal. The second dog ran away from the scene and has not yet been found. Officers were able to locate the owners of the dog and they are now sending the case to prosecutors for review.
