One Killed in Pedestrian Accident near Walnut Street
LOCKEFORD, CA (May 31, 2019) – A 60-year-old man died after a hit-and-run vehicle struck him on Highway 88 on May 29.
Authorities received a report around 5:30 a.m. of a pedestrian lying in the right shoulder of Highway 88 near Walnut Street. In addition, the accident happened just as the two-lane highway veers northeast in the small northeastern San Joaquin County community.
The unconscious Lockeford pedestrian sustained injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. Medical responders took him to an area hospital. However, he succumbed to his injures some time later.
His identity still currently remains unreleased due to the pending family notification.
The crash is currently under investigation by the CHP. Authorities are still searching for the suspect vehicle. CHP encourages anyone with information regarding the vehicle or its driver to call. All calls can be made to the Stockton Area CHP Office at (209) 238-4800.
