How Can the Family Proceed in Case of Fatal Auto Accident
In a fatal crash, it is crucial the family of the victim becomes aware of their rights under the law. Indeed, there may be the ability to file a lawsuit.
Those closest to the victim may have the right to seek compensation for their loss. Examples include funeral expenses, medical bills, and what is called “loss of consortium”. Loss of consortium generally means the deprivation of future affection and companionship over an untimely death.
“The aftermath of tragic accidents can make things extremely tough for a family. The last thing most want to deal with is piles of paperwork, correspondence with insurance companies or defense attorneys, or reading police reports. Grieving and handling legal claims don’t exactly go hand in hand. That’s why hiring an experienced attorney can not only provide you with peace of mind that you have a fighter in your corner but also ensure that your rights are respected and that justice will be served. Having legal representation after such a traumatic event will provide your family the space to heal, while your attorney handles all the legal details,” says Mark Sweet, a seasoned lawyer at Sweet Lawyers.
