BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 11, 2019) – A man sustained injuries after he was struck by a car on Wilson Road on Saturday.
 
The incident happened around 9:00 p.m., in the 4000 block of Wilson Road near Stine Elementary School. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after.
 
The Bakersfield Police revealed that the car hit the pedestrian while crossing the street. Reports also revealed that the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk at the time of the accident.
 
Responders transported the man to a local hospital with major injuries. He is still in critical condition.
 
Furthermore, the driver stayed at the scene and helped with the police investigation. Speed, drugs, and alcohol were also ruled out as a factor in the collision.
 
The surrounding roadway was blocked off for a brief time, but has since reopened.
