1 Hospitalized in Kennewick Pedestrian Accident
KENNEWICK, WA (February 22, 2019) – A man sustained injuries after being struck by a car while walking across a street in a crosswalk on February 20.
The Kennewick Police revealed that a 31-year-old man was walking across 1st Avenue near Washington Street about 10:00 a.m. Meanwhile, a driver making a left turn onto 1st Avenue failed to yield to a flashing yellow arrow and struck the male pedestrian.
The man fell and knocked his head on the asphalt. When the medical responders came, they transported the man to the hospital. Traffic Sgt. Matt Newton revealed that the pedestrian was bleeding from the head. However, the victim was awake and alert.
As of this time, his condition is still unclear but the authorities believe that his injury is non-life threatening.
It was reported that the driver was not impaired and was cited for failure to yield.
