Amtrak Train Involved in Fatal Pedestrian Accident near Martinez Station

 
PORT COSTA, CA (December 5, 2019) – An Amtrak train struck and killed a man near Martinez Station on Thursday night.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at approximately 9:15 PM.
 
Reports from the Amtrak and Union Pacific Railroad officials showed that the unidentified man was on the tracks when he was struck by an eastbound Amtrak Capitol Corridor train. They confirmed that the man trespassed when the Train No. 548 hit him.
 
It is not clear if the man died at the scene west of Martinez or at a hospital. The victim’s name was not yet released.
 
No one aboard the train suffered injuries. Amtrak officials stressed that anyone walking around or on railroad tracks should exercise caution.
