Man Shot after Hit-and-Run Crash on McDonnell Avenue [Commerce, CA]

1 Injured in Commerce Accident on McDonnell Avenue

 
COMMERCE, CA (August 24, 2020) – Saturday night, a man was shot following a hit-and-run crash on McDonnell Avenue.
 
At 9:50 p.m., deputies from the department’s East Los Angeles station responded to investigate a hit-and-run of a parked vehicle. The incident occurred in the 1400 block of South McDonnell Avenue.
 
Upon their arrival, they found three men and a woman standing near the car involved in the crash. Deputy Maria Lucero with the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said that it’s still unclear whether the vehicle was owned by the suspect of the victim of the hit-and-run.
 
“As the deputies approached, one of the suspects brandished a firearm at which time a deputy-involved shooting occurred,” Lucero revealed. “One male Hispanic adult was struck by gunfire and was transported to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition.”
 
Furthermore, the authorities confirmed that no deputies suffered injuries. Meanwhile, the man with the firearm escaped and is still at large.
 
Moreover, the authorities are investigating the incident as a deputy-involved shooting. However, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department didn’t confirm whether one or more deputies discharged their weapons.
