Speeding Driver Miraculously Survives after Crashing into Big Rig on Golden State Highway in Fresno
FRESNO CA (December 3, 2019) – A man was seriously injured following a high-speed crash Tuesday morning in Fresno County.
The crash happened around 6:55 a.m. near the intersection of Golden State Highway, also known as Highway 99, and Chestnut Avenue.
According to the CHP, a vehicle was heading southbound on Chestnut Avenue at a high-rate of speed. The driver failed to see a semi-truck turning in front of him due to fog. That was when he slammed into the back of the truck and ended up nearly 200 feet away from the crash site.
CHP officials responded to the scene and found the vehicle sheared in half, the steering wheel in the passenger’s seat and the driver still strapped in.
Officers say the driver suffered major injuries and was taken to the hospital but is expected to survive.
No other injuries were reported. The crash remains under investigation.
