42-Year-Old Man Hospitalized after Wrong-Way Accident near South Citrus Avenue
ESCONDIDO, CA (July 25, 2018) – A man was critically injured late Wednesday afternoon following a head-on crash on San Pasqual Valley Road.
According to the San Diego Police, the incident happened at about 4:45 PM in the 1900 block of San Pasqual Valley Road, near South Citrus Avenue. A 42-year-old man was traveling north when he crossed over the center line and collided with a southbound vehicle.
The impact of the crash critically injured the 42-year-old driver. He was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Updates stated that the man sustained blunt force trauma and recently underwent surgery for a torn aorta. His identity and city of residence were not immediately available.
The driver of the second vehicle, identified as a 39-year-old man, suffered abrasions and complained of pain. There are no updates on his current medical condition, or the extent of his injuries, at this time.
An investigation is ongoing to determine why the 42-year-old man allowed his vehicle to veer into southbound traffic lanes. Alcohol and drugs were ruled out as possible contributing factors in the crash. No additional information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
