Tricycle Rider Fatally Struck by Semi Truck on Lakeville Street in Petaluma
PETALUMA, CA (October 23, 2019) – A Petaluma man riding a large tricycle died after colliding with a semi truck Wednesday afternoon.
The crash happened around 12:15 p.m. in the 1000 block of Lakeville Street near the In-N-Out Burger restaurant, just east of Highway 101.
According to a preliminary investigation, the victim and the semi truck were both traveling eastbound on Lakeville Street toward Highway 101 when they collided.
The tricycle rider died upon impact. The coroner’s office will release his identity once family members are properly notified.
Police issued a SigAlert in the area, causing traffic backups and detours for several hours.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but authorities said there is no indication that alcohol was a factor.
