FedEx Driver Involved in Fatal Two-Vehicle near East American Avenue
FRESNO, CA (September 15, 2018) – A man was killed Friday afternoon and a woman was injured following a truck collision on South Golden State Boulevard. The identity of the deceased victim was not immediately released, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 2:00 PM. A brown 1999 Toyota Corolla, driven by a 64-year-old man, was heading eastbound near East American Avenue when it drove into the path of a westbound FedEx truck.
The impact critically injured the elderly man, and he was transported to the Community Regional Medical Center. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical staff. Meanwhile, the victim’s wife, identified as 58-year-old Eufrosina Fructuosa Guzman Ramirez, was also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The FedEx driver, identified as 38-year-old Joshua Hernandez, did not sustain injuries from the crash. He remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Alcohol and drugs were ruled out as possible contributing factors in the fatal crash. Additional information will be released following the conclusion of the investigation.
