Unidentified Man Killed in Solo-Car Crash in Valley Center
VALLEY CENTER, CA (May 9, 2019) – On Thursday morning, a man was killed in solo-car accident on Woods Valley Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 8:30 AM, just east of Oakmont Road.
Police state the man was driving fast on a slick road and swerved over the double-yellow lane. He then exited the roadway, hit a rock and rolled over several times. As a result, it caused him to be ejected from the vehicle.
First responders stated the victim suffered critical injuries. He was transported to Palomar Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities believe rain and the wet pavement may be a contributing factor in the accident.
The road was closed off for a brief time for cleanup and preliminary investigation. No further details have been released regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident at this time.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released to the public.
