1 Killed in Avocado Heights Rollover Crash on 605 Freeway
AVOCADO HEIGHTS, CA (November 07, 2019) — A man died in a rollover crash on the 605 Freeway early Tuesday morning in Avocado Heights.
According to the California Highway Patrol, they received a report about the incident at about 12:30 a.m. The crash occurred on the southbound side of the 605 Freeway, north of the 60 Freeway. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a wrecked vehicle resting in the riverbed.
An investigation indicated that the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the highway. It traveled down an embankment and then went airborne. It ended up plunging into a riverbed below the freeway.
A man, believed to be in his 30s, died at the scene.
Meantime, a dive team of the Los Angeles County Fire Department also responded. They helped to determine whether the vehicle had any additional occupants at the time of the crash. However, they did not find anyone.
The authorities issued a SigAlert for two lanes of the southbound 605 Freeway during their investigation. The freeway reopened at about 4:30 a.m. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
