Man Killed in Horrific Pedestrian Crash on Avenida Costa Este [Otay Mesa, CA]

Otay Mesa, CA (September 21, 2024) On Thursday evening, a 58-year-old man was killed in a pedestrian Crash on Avenida Costa Este in the Otay Mesa community of San Diego.

Authorities say that the incident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. in the 2300 block of Avenida Costa Este.

According to San Diego police, the man was crossing the street from west to east in an unmarked crosswalk when a 38-year-old driver, operating a 2019 Toyota Tacoma, struck him.

Officials say that the driver had been traveling westbound on Avenida De La Fuente and turned left onto Avenida Costa Este, hitting the pedestrian.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that DUI is not suspected as a factor, and the investigation is ongoing.
