Man Dead after La Mesa Pedestrian Crash on Lake Murray Boulevard near Marengo Avenue
LA MESA, CA (June 27, 2019) – A man died following in a pedestrian crash on Lake Murray Boulevard in La Mesa on Tuesday, June 25.
According to officials with the La Mesa Police Department, a Toyota SUV struck the pedestrian on Lake Murray Boulevard near Marengo Avenue shortly after 3:30 p.m.
When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered the man lying in southbound lanes. Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene.
The teenage driver of the SUV told the officers that she noticed the man cross the road to the median. However, she thought that he was going to stop but didn’t.
The man was not in a crosswalk when he the car hit him, fire officials stated.
Firefighters described the victim as a man between 50 and 60 years old. His identity was not immediately available.
The fatality caused the closure of traffic lanes near the road crossing. Police urged motorists to avoid the crash site if possible.
