Homeless Man Fatally Struck in Atwater Village Accident on 5 Freeway near Glendale Boulevard
ATWATER VILLAGE, CA (April 9, 2021) – Early Wednesday morning, a 39-year-old man died in a pedestrian crash on the 5 Freeway near Glendale Boulevard.
The CHP confirmed that it happened at around 2:10 a.m. on the 5 Freeway near Glendale Boulevard.
Meanwhile, the CHP and the County Coroner confirmed that the 39-year-old Latino victim was homeless.
According to the initial reports, a male pedestrian was walking within the northbound lanes of Interstate 5, south of Glendale Boulevard.
As the officers responded, they received another call stated that the pedestrian was struck and killed.
Upon their arrival, they found an unresponsive man lying within the northbound lanes. Then, a Los Angeles Fire Department personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
Furthermore, the involved vehicle described as a white sedan left the crash scene. Also, the incident led to the closure of the slow lane.
