Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle on East Lassen Avenue in Chico

 
CHICO, CA (October 01, 2019) — A man died in a pedestrian collision on East Lassen Avenue Friday morning.
 
The Chico police said the incident occurred at about 7:15 a.m. near the Highway 99 overpass.
 
When first responders reached the scene, a bystander was attempting life-saving measures to aid the pedestrian. They transported the man to Enloe Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.
 
The name of the victim was withheld pending notification of their family.
 
The collision led to the closure of East Lassen Avenue from Joshua Tree Road to Monterey Street for about three and a half hours.
 
The incident is under investigation. The Chico police said negligence or impairment did not appear to be a factor. They urge anyone with information related to the incident to call 897-4910 and reference case number 19-7124.
