37-Year-Old Man Dies after being Struck by Car on 5 Freeway near Milepost 216
STANWOOD, WA (September 18, 2018) – On Tuesday evening, a 37-year-old man was killed in a pedestrian collision on 5 Freeway. The deceased victim’s identity and place of residence were not immediately released to the public, pending notification of next of kin.
Officers received several reports of a man acting deliriously as he was wandering in the northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway near the Snohomish/Skagit County line.
They were on their way to the scene when reports came that the man had been struck by a car at around 9:00 PM. Responding officials arrived at the scene to find the man’s body in the lanes of the highway. Preliminary investigation revealed that he was struck by two separate cars, and the drivers remained at the scene. The driver of the first car involved in the collision sustained minor injuries and was treated on site by emergency paramedics.
No further details have been disclosed on the fatal accident at this time, as the investigation continues to understand the cause and events leading up to the crash.
