1 Dead in Oakland Pedestrian Crash on Interstate 880 and 7th Street

 
OAKLAND, CA (November 15, 2021) – Sunday night, a man died in a pedestrian accident on Interstate 880 and 7th Street.
 
The authorities responded to the scene just after 6:30 p.m. after reports of a possible body lying in the road. CHP Officer David Arias confirmed that it happened in the southbound Interstate 880, north of 7th Street off-ramp.
 
Upon the officers’ arrival, they found that a southbound Toyota Tundra struck a man in the highway’s No. 1 lane. Then, the driver stopped and was joined by other drivers seeking to assist.
 
Oakland Fire Department firefighters also came to the scene. However, the male pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, the officers issued a Sig-alert which closed all southbound lanes for several minutes at 6:43 p.m. Then minutes later, the authorities opened the Nos. 3 and 4 lanes after a traffic break. By 8:50 p.m., all lanes have reopened.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Toyota suffered no injuries and has been cooperative with the investigation.
 
Furthermore, the authorities urged anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the CHP’s Oakland office at 510-457-2875.
