Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 30, 2019) — A man died in a pedestrian accident on Buck Owens Boulevard Tuesday afternoon. The Bakersfield police said a vehicle struck the pedestrian in the 2600 Block of Buck Owens Boulevard at around 4:15 p.m.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office Police will identify the victim who was described only as an adult male. An investigation determined that the pedestrian was running outside of a crosswalk when the vehicle hit him.
The victim sustained major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. In the meantime, the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Officers said alcohol, trucks, or speed do not appear to be contributing factors in the collision. They closed Buck Owens Boulevard between Rosedale Highway and Sillect Avenue for several hours while they investigated. The roadway has since reopened.
