Man Lying in Street with Bicycle Struck and Killed in Los Angeles Pedestrian Crash on Arlington Avenue
LOS ANGELES, CA (September 25, 2019) – A man died following a pedestrian accident on Arlington Avenue on Sunday, September 22.
The crash happened shortly before midnight near the intersection of Arlington Avenue and West 48th Street. It is adjacent to the Chesterfield Square area near Hyde Park neighborhood of South Los Angeles.
According to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson, responding officers found a man down in the street who had been struck by a vehicle.
The unidentified man, described to be 58-years-old, died at the scene.
Investigators learned that the man had been lying on Arlington Avenue next to his bike. As a result, a driver quickly swerved to avoid striking him.
However, a second driver moving in the same direction did not notice the man and was unable to avoid him, the spokesperson said.
The driver who struck the victim remained at the scene and cooperated with police. The first driver is considered a witness to the crash.
The incident is not considered as a hit-and-run, the spokesperson stated.
