63-Year-Old San Ramon Man Dies after Crash on 680 Freeway in Walnut Creek
WALNUT CREEK, CA (May 27, 2019) – A 63-year-old San Ramon man was killed following a two-car crash Monday morning in Walnut Creek.
The fatal crash happened around 11:53 a.m. on northbound 680 Freeway at North Main Street off-ramp.
CHP officials responded to the scene and located a black 1974 Porsche and a black Jeep SUV. The victim was found unresponsive inside the Porsche and was rushed to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, where he was later pronounced dead. His name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.
Two people inside the Jeep sustained minor injuries and had complaints of pain.
Three lanes of 680 Freeway were shut down prompting a SigAlert. All lanes were reopened at 2:00 p.m.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation, but alcohol and drugs have not been ruled out as possible contributing factors.
