Fatal Rollover Crash on Highway 78 in San Marcos

 
SAN MARCOS, CA (August 13, 2019) – A man was killed following a rollover crash Tuesday afternoon on Highway 78 near Palomar College, authorities reported.
 
The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. just west of Rancho Santa Fe Road.
 
The man was driving his Chevrolet Camaro eastbound when he veered off the south side of the freeway. The car then overturned and went down an embankment.
 
Paramedics arrived and took the driver to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where he was pronounced dead.
 
The victim’s name was not immediately available pending next of kin notification.
 
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
