Man Killed in Rollover Crash on 55 Freeway at 73 Toll Road [COSTA MESA, CA]

Van Overturns and Hits Light Pole on 55 Freeway in Costa Mesa Killing its Driver

 
COSTA MESA, CA (October 4, 2019) – A man died in a rollover crash late Friday evening on 55 Freeway in Costa Mesa, CHP officials said.
 
The crash happened around 11:34 p.m. along the northbound lanes of the freeway at the 73 Toll Road.
 
Arriving units located a white panel van that had overturned on its side against a light pole. Firefighter paramedics extricated the driver and pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
The identity of the victim was not immediately available pending family notification.
 
Tire debris were recovered from lanes on the freeway but it was unclear if tire blowout contributed to the crash.
 
Officers are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
