WINCHESTER, CA (June 25, 2019) – A man was killed following a rollover crash Tuesday morning at Domenigoni Parkway and Leon Road.
The crash happened around 7:34 a.m., at the intersection of Domenigoni Parkway and Leon Road. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after.
According to reports, a 50-year-old Hemet man was driving a Mazda 5 when for unknown reasons, he allowed his car to leave the roadway as he was traversing the intersection.
The Mazda traveled over the concrete curb on the northwestern side of the intersection before slamming into a traffic signal. It then overturned before coming to rest in a dirt field nearby.
The driver was trapped inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. However, his name was withheld pending family notification.
The traffic signal struck by the SUV was damaged but remained operational.
All but one lane of westbound Domenigoni Parkway was closed while the crash was under investigation. However, the roadway has since reopened.
