Hit-and-Run Driver Arrested in Fatal Pedestrian Crash on South Hill Street in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 6, 2020) – A 34-year-old man was killed in a pedestrian hit-and-run crash Thursday morning in the South-Central neighborhood of Los Angeles.
The crash happened just after 1:00 a.m. on South Hill Street near West Adams Boulevard intersection.
According to police, the man was walking outside of a marked crosswalk when a southbound Toyota Prius struck him.
As a result, the victim died at the scene. His name was not immediately available.
The Prius continued a short distance on Hill Street before the driver abandoned the car near 30th Street and fled on foot.
Video from the scene showed the hood, windshield and roof of the Prius were all badly damaged as a result of the crash.
Bloodhounds were brought to the scene to help track the suspect.
Police later located and arrested the suspect. Further investigation is underway.
