Late Evening Pedestrian Crash on Highway 101 in San Jose Turns Fatal
SAN JOSE, CA (December 29, 2019) – A man died in a pedestrian crash late Sunday evening in San Jose, the CHP said.
The crash happened around 11:25 p.m. on northbound Highway 101, just south of Brokaw Road off-ramp.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was walking in the far left lane of the highway when a vehicle struck him. As a result, the victim suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Authorities did not immediately identify the man pending family notification.
The driver of the vehicle did not stop at the scene but did later contact the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office and spoke with them, authorities said.
Two highway lanes were closed for about 90 minutes while officers documented the crash. All lanes were back open around 1:35 a.m.
No arrests have made at this time, but the fatal incident is still under investigation.
