Rider Dies after Crashing into Tree on Highway 50 in Placerville
PLACERVILLE, CA (July 6, 2019) – A 32-year-old Orangevale man was killed early Saturday morning, in a motorcycle crash on Highway 50, near Placerville Drive.
The crash happened around 12:05 a.m., on Highway 50. First responders arrived near Placerville Drive.
According to reports, the man was driving a westbound 2006 Honda motorcycle at a speed of 80 mph. There, he veered off the right side of the lanes for unknown reasons.
The motorcycle continued across the Placerville Drive on-ramp’s median and traveled down an embankment before hitting a tree along the highway.
The rider suffered fatal injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene. His identity will be handled by the El Dorado County Coroner’s Office.
It is currently unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation at this time.
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews work to clear the wreckage. However, the roadway has since reopened.
