Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Highway 237 in Sunnyvale
SUNNYVALE, CA (August 15, 2019) – A man was killed after crashing his motorcycle into the back of a pickup truck Thursday morning in Sunnyvale.
According to the CHP, a 34-year-old man was riding a Yamaha motorcycle westbound on Highway 237 when for unknown reasons, he collided into the back of a large white Ford pickup truck east of the Mathilda Avenue off-ramp just before 6:00 a.m.
The impact ejected the rider from his bike onto the roadway. Other drivers stopped and attempted CPR on the man.
Paramedics arrived and transported the rider to Stanford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity was not immediately available.
It is unclear whether the motorcyclist was splitting lanes at the time of the crash or riding within the lane, officials said.
The incident remains under investigation.
