PETALUMA, CA (November 1, 2019) – A man was killed following a head-on crash Friday afternoon in Petaluma.
 
The crash happened around 2:35 p.m. on Lakeville Highway near Old Lakeville Road No. 1., just south of Stage Gulch Road.
 
According to the CHP, a white Chevrolet Tahoe and a white Jeep SUV collided head-on on the undivided, two‑lane highway. The Jeep overturned, ejecting the male driver. The Chevrolet was badly damaged and airbags were deployed.
 
Arriving units pronounced the Jeep driver dead at the scene. His identity was not immediately available.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the Chevrolet driver to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries.
 
After the crash, as traffic backed up, some drivers began to turn around, as emergency vehicles rushed into the area.
 
CHP officials are still investigating the cause of the crash and factors involved.
