Big Rig Involved in Fatal Head-On Crash on Avenue 21 in Madera
MADERA, CA (September 28, 2019) – A man was killed following a head-on crash with a big rig early Saturday morning in Madera County.
The crash happened around 4:45 a.m. on Avenue 21, just west of Road 26.
According to California Highway Patrol, a 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Avenue 21 when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed over into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a semi truck.
As a result, the 39-year-old male driver of the Chevrolet died at the scene. His name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification. He was the sole occupant of the pickup.
Meanwhile, the driver of the semi truck sustained no injuries.
Both vehicles had major damage from the crash and were towed away.
Authorities did not rule out drugs and/or alcohol as factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
