City of Modesto Employee Dies after Garbage Truck Hits Tree at Finch and McClure Roads
MODESTO, CA (December 2, 2019) – A city employee was killed in a garbage truck crash Monday afternoon in Modesto, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 2:00 p.m. at Finch and McClure roads.
CHP officials said the employee, a 52-year-old man, was driving a forestry garbage truck carrying tree debris. For unknown reasons, the truck swerved off the roadway, hitting a fence belonging to Ring Container Technologies before crashing into a large tree.
As a result, the employee suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was the only person in the truck, the CHP said.
Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
