Pickup Truck Crashes into Pole and Catches Fire on 280 Freeway in Burlingame Killing the Driver
BURLINGAME, CA (January 21, 2020) – A man died when his pickup truck crashed and burst into flames Tuesday afternoon in Burlingame.
The crash happened around 1:50 p.m. along southbound 280 Freeway, just north of Trousdale Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a white Dodge pickup truck veered off the roadway, struck a tree and a light pole, and caught fire. The driver was burned by the fire and died at the scene.
The coroner’s office did not release the man’s identity pending notification of his family members.
The CHP shut down the right lane of southbound 280 Freeway until around 5:25 p.m. They noted that the roadway was wet at the time of the crash.
