Driver Dies after Car Hits Wall and Catches Fire on West Las Positas Boulevard in Pleasanton
PLEASANTON, CA (January 18, 2020) – A man was killed in a fiery crash late Saturday night in Pleasanton, according to police.
The crash happened just before 6:00 p.m. near the intersection of West Las Positas Boulevard and Hacienda Drive.
According to an initial report, a Tesla Model S was traveling southbound on Hacienda Drive when it lost control. It then crashed into a traffic signal pole at the intersection and then a concrete wall.
When police arrived, they found the car on fire with one male occupant dead inside in the driver seat. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
Officials closed portions of West Las Positas Boulevard and Stoneridge Drive for several hours while they worked on the scene.
It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs were a factor. The deadly crash remains under investigation.
