Man Killed in Car Crash on 8 Freeway near Highway 67 [EL CAJON, CA]

Driver Dies after Vehicle Crashes on 8 Freeway in El Cajon

 
EL CAJON, CA (June 21, 2019) – A man was killed late Friday evening following a car crash on 8 Freeway, just West of Highway 67.
 
The crash happened around 10:00 p.m., near Walmart and Parkway Plaza. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after.
 
CHP officials responded located a vehicle that went off the freeway and into the ditch. A downed light pole and a 40-50 feet downed chain-link fence were also found in the crash site.
 
Fire crews tried to get the elderly male driver inside the vehicle. Arriving paramedics provided life-saving aid to the man, but unsuccessful. The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
