1 Dead in Sunnyvale Pedestrian Accident on Highway 101 and Highway 237

SUNNYVALE, CA (August 14, 2024) – Monday night, a man died in a brutal pedestrian crash on Highway 101 and Highway 237.

The incident happened at about 10:24 p.m. on Highway 101, south of Highway 237 in Sunnyvale.

A man was driving north on Highway 101 when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed onto the freeway’s right shoulder. After exiting his car, he ran across the northbound lanes and jumped over the concrete barrier, entering the southbound side, according to the California Highway Patrol.

He continued running across the southbound lanes and was struck by a vehicle in the second lane, according to Officer Moreno. The impact pushed him into the first lane, where he was hit by another car. The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office has withheld his identity pending verification and notification of his family.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
