Chain-Reaction Crash Involving 3 Big Rigs and Car on 10 Freeway in West Covina Kills 1
WEST COVINA, CA (September 26, 2019) – A man was killed when at least three big rigs and a car collided early Thursday morning in West Covina.
The crash happened around 2:53 a.m. on eastbound 10 Freeway at Citrus Street off-ramp.
According to the CHP, a semi truck pulling two trailers lost control and rear-ended another big rig. The impact pushed the second big rig into a third big rig and then hit a Honda Civic stopped in front of it.
The chain-reaction crash killed the second trucker. He was described as a 52-year-old South Gate man.
Paramedics took him the driver of the first big rig to a hospital with major injuries.
Meanwhile, the other two drivers were not injured, according to the CHP.
Fluids from the damaged big rigs leaked onto the freeway.
Authorities did not release the name of the deceased and the other drivers involved. The crash remains under investigation.
