Man Fatally Struck After Fleeing 2-Vehicle Collision on Highway 99
Hesperia, CA (December 27, 2023) On Monday evening, a 42-year-old McFarland man was killed in a horrific traffic crash on Highway 99.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), at around 8:40 p.m. the man was trying to escape the scene of a 2-vehicle collision on northbound Highway 99.
Reports say that the man was previously involved in a collision between his Hyundai and another vehicle, north of 7th Standard Road. Officials say that the crash was reported to have injuries.
However, the McFarland man got out of the Hyundai and fled the scene in a westerly direction across Highway 99.
Unfortunately, athe fleeing man was struck by a southbound Acura, driven by a 22-year-old Fresno man, on southbound Highway 99, south of Lerdo Highway. Officials say that after the initial collision, the pedestrian was hit by multiple times and was declared dead at the scene.
Officials say that the driver of the acura sustained injuries and was taken to Kern Medical with moderate injuries.
Authorities are investigating the fatal crash and have not released additional information at this time.
