Homeless Man Fatally Struck by Two Hit-and-Run Drivers near Wyandotte Street, Kenneth Korevaar Arrested
VAN NUYS, CA (September 14, 2018) – A man was killed Friday evening following a hit-and-run crash on Sepulveda Boulevard near Wyandotte Street. The identity of the victim was not released to the public, pending notification of family members.
According to officials with the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident took place at about 9:45 PM. The pedestrian was walking outside of a crosswalk when he was hit by a white 2016 Chevy Cruze driven by 60-year-old Kenneth Korevaar of Sherman Oaks.
The impact knocked the victim, believed to be a homeless man in his 50’s, to the roadway. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers. Meanwhile, Korevaar continued driving before his Chevy crashed into several parked cars several blocks away from the site.
Korevaar was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and misdemeanor DUI. He was then booked into the Van Nuys Jail with a bail set at $50,000.
A second hit-and-run driver, who was seen driving a 2012 to 2015 Honda Pilot, is believed to be involved in the incident. Anyone with information about the incident and the other driver is encouraged to call (877) LAPD-247 (877) 527-3247. No other information has been disclosed at this time.
